We believe that architecture should feel.
That it should speak.
And most of all, that it should listen.
Atelier Backlar is an architecture office specialised in circular design, urban activation projects, and built environments for health and sustainable communities. Our approach reimagines neglected spaces as opportunities for regeneration— From temporary interventions that bring life to empty lots, to long-term projects that promote wellbeing and environmental balance, our work aims to bridge architecture, community, and ecology. We define our design ecosystem as Regenerative Urbanism—where architecture becomes a tool for healing both people and the planet.
Bridging the intricate codes of the brain with the silent language of space changed our perspective on how projects are developed and recognised by official entities.
That's why we've established the Humanize(s)pace department.
— to merge human-centered design strategies
with scientific research —
This is our practice.

We see (s)pace as a kind of medicine. A gentle one. A wordless therapy.
Where hospitals are built with sterile steel, we imagine healing gardens with soft acoustics;
Where schools echo with tension, we envision playful, breathing walls that spark curiosity;
Where homes are cold, we dream of warmth that begins not with a heater, but with proportions that embrace;
We see (s)pace , not just about shelter, but about resonance.
How the brain feels space?
How does a room lower cortisol?
How light change the rhythm of thought?
How can the scent of cedar or the softness of clay remind the nervous system to exhale?
We see (s)pace as more than just a container—it creates experiences shaped by varying rhythms and flows.
A corridor can whisper calm;
A window can awaken longing;
A ceiling’s curve can quiet grief.
